The Drama Group once again delivered a wonderful evening of entertainment to a sold-out audience on all nights. It was directed by Kate Sumner, whose vision as to how it should be performed was “spot on”. The main characters were all excellently portrayed by the various members of the cast.

Special mention for John Tomlinson who must, by the last performance, have been “black and blue” after all of his unfortunate accidents. Perhaps his wig deserves a mention too, as it also “slipped” in a few laughs!

I think the audience were very envious of Clifton, the butler, who was very popular with all the bimbos, sorry the various ladies in the play. Each of them taking him off to the bedrooms in the mansion for a little bit of fun and frolic! It brought back too many memories of the past! Poor Clifton looked more and more dishevelled and exhausted each time he reappeared – clothes in disarray. Les Rippon played the part of Clifton brilliantly.

The scenery was excellent. It is amazing what can be done on a small stage at the Village Hall. It looked very impressive indeed. Well done to all the backstage people who created the set, as well as Kevin Bridge on lights/sounds, which added to the atmosphere. The fireplace looked absolutely brilliant.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed the show, lots and lots of laughter, plus an excellent hot pot supper. Roll on the next production by this very talented group later on this year. It will be a hard act to follow, but the ladies and Les will need time to recover from their active exploits.
