The National Garden Scheme talk by Sue Beacon will not be about actual gardening but a wonderful story of how and why this scheme was started. It was founded in 1927 with the aim of "opening gardens of quality, character and interest to the public for charity".

The history and ongoing charitable causes and its support by Royal and famous patrons is a wonderful and interesting story which will surprise you as it has enriched and supported our lives.

Over 3,500 privately owned gardens open each year in England, Northern Ireland, Wales, and the Channel Islands on selected dates for charity, the scheme has raised over £67 million since it began.
