The rush to save Britain’s gold in WW2.
Bernard Nevin who is Chairman of the Formby Historical Society was in Liverpool City Centre outside Martins Bank, by chance he discovered a plaque fixed to the wall around the corner with a grating on the pavement suggesting that the bank had been used to deposit gold during the Second World War.
There were no records to be found which set Bernard on a journey of discovery of Operation Fish. This was a top-secret relocation of money and gold ingots from UK to Canada for safekeeping during World War 2.
I hope you can join us for this local historical interesting talk.
