Pickleball is a fun sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis.

This new addition to our list of u3a Groups provides members with the chance to have a go at Pickleball and discover how much fun it is!

If you have never heard of Pickleball you may well be wondering what it is all about. Pickleball is played in a court the same size as badminton doubles. The net is similar to a tennis net, but a little lower. It is a game that combines tennis, table tennis and badminton. Unlike other sports where you often need to take lessons to become adequate, you can get the hang of it in minutes.

The game is played with a hard “paddle” and a hard, hollow plastic ball with holes in it. It is low impact but good exercise, making it ideal for players of all ages and skill levels! It can be played as singles or doubles, though doubles is most common.

Contact the leaders for details of the temporary arrangements.

Paddles and balls are provided.

It is fun and addictive, so come along and have a great time!

Many of our members take part in the Pickleball England festivals. We email the details out and then you need to sign up quickly to take part as places go quickly. You can also play in the North West Pickleball League. These take place every month and the results of these matches will determine your ranking. You need to be a member of Pickleball England - more information can be found at www.pickleballengland.org
